I Am Ready 04:08
In my mind, in my marrow, I’ve been shooting neon arrows, I’ve been shaking my shadows, My bones are buzzed, my heart is ripe, I’m alive. I am ready now, I am ready now, I am ready now To pull it apart I am ready now, I am ready now, I am ready now Ready to start. I’m tired of shrinking, I’m tired of thinking that I don’t deserve what’s mine. Nothing can stop me if I got a heartbeat, Yeah I’m ready to be alive. I’ve been scared, I’ve been silent. I’ve shut myself from love’s violence. But this is just a different dying. I cannot hide, if I am alive, I’m divine. I am ready now, I am ready now, I am ready now To pull it apart. I am ready now, I am ready now, I am ready now Ready to start. I’m tired of shrinking, I’m tired of thinking that I don’t deserve what’s mine. Nothing can stop me if I got a heartbeat, Yeah I’m ready to be alive. I won’t be afraid of all the mistakes that I have yet to make. I won’t be ashamed of just how brave I’ll have to be To love myself. I am ready now, I am ready now, I am ready now To pull it apart I am ready now, I am ready now, I am ready now Ready to start. I’m tired of shrinking, I’m tired of thinking That I don’t deserve what’s mine. Nothing can stop me if I got a heartbeat, Yeah I’m ready to be alive.

about

“'Unravel' is a collection of songs about vulnerability – avoiding it; embracing it and turning it into strength and power; the vulnerabilities of femininity and how that can be interpreted; emotional hibernation; falling completely in love with someone you know you cannot be with; the vulnerability of the young people I worked with on the fringes of the American economic system; simply wanting to sit bare-boned with someone you love and the struggle to be your entire, naked self.”

The record was produced by John Vanderslice (Spoon, The Mountain Goats), arranged by the Magik*Magik Orchestra (Death Cab for Cutie), engineered by Ian Pellicci (The Dodos, Deerhoof), accompanied by Jason Slota (Thao and the Get Down Stay Down), Jesse Cafiero (Split Screens, Thao, Sean Hayes), Sylvain Carton (Japonize Elephants), & Justine Leichtling (The Sam Chase).
